Serbian Sisters’ Circle (KOLO)
The Serbian Sisters’ Circle of St Archangel Michael, or “Kolo,” supports the church and all its ministries. It was established at the same time as the parish in 1960, and since then made an enormous contribution to church life, both on local and the national level.
The principal goals of the KOLO can be summarised in the following:
- To volunteer its efforts for the glory of God, for the Holy Orthodox Church, for the benefit of the people, and ultimately for the salvation of its members;
- To spread the faith and create awareness amongst the Church parishes and members of the Serbian Orthodox Church in America;
- In keeping with the example set by the Myrrhbearing Women, to spread the word of Orthodoxy and to care for the sick, the suffering, and the poor;
- To promote charitable, benevolent, and philanthropic outreach to preserve the sanctity of life and family and to perpetuate and promote our Orthodox faith and traditions;
- To promote the charitable, benevolent, and philanthropic purposes of the Serbian Orthodox Church in America, through instructional programs, presentations, lectures, seminars, and other educational resources.
