Dear Faithful,
Upon entering an Orthodox church, it is customary to light candles and offer prayers for one’s personal needs, a family member or friend, or in memory for our beloved departed ones. Candles are lit before icons as a sign of one’s faith and hope in God’s help that is always sent to all who turn to Him and His Saints with faith and prayers. When we light a candle, it helps us remember that Jesus is the light of the world.
If, for some reason, you are not able to come to the church service in person, consider, as your continued engagement with the church, to ask Father Vido to light candles and pray for your loved ones during the next church service.
